The Steve Himes Connection's second CD was recorded in April, 2000, and released in December of the same year. Eleven original tracks explore jazz, Latin, Brazilian, and R&B grooves. It is a fine example of the group's ability to take the listener to all kinds of places. This CD features: Steve Himes - guitars, Jason Gay - saxophones, Chris Hudson - drums and percussion and Deron Sodaro - bass. Guitarist, Josh Cannon, joins the group on two tracks. When Running Ahead Of Time was juried into Tamarack: The Best Of West Virginia, the evaluation sheet read: "Great recording of original jazz by one of the best jazz ensembles in WV. Himes' writing features all the players, not just himself. A great mix of tune styles, but scored for the players. Keep up the good work. Production quality is excellent!"
